Since 2020, Liverpool has been outfitted by Nike, following a prior agreement with New Balance. Nike currently pays Liverpool £30 million annually under their contract, although additional royalties from replica sales push this figure to over £50 million per year. In contrast, Manchester United's deal with Adidas is worth £90 million annually, a Premier League record extended for another decade last summer.
Liverpool's potential switch to Adidas, reported by SportBusiness, would commence a five-year contract from the start of the 2025/2026 season. Adidas prevailed in the recent competitive bidding, marking a reunion after a 13-year hiatus from outfitting Liverpool.
Adidas previously supplied Liverpool's kits from 2006 to 2012, before a switch to Warrior. Reports suggest the new Adidas deal could exceed the current terms with Nike.
Puma was also involved in negotiations but has shifted focus to Manchester City. Adidas recently signed Trent Alexander-Arnold to a lucrative boot deal, part of an aggressive strategy following the loss of their long-standing German national team contract.
While Adidas has held the German national team contract for over 70 years, Nike secured rights starting from 2027. The focus now shifts to the French national team contract, currently in tender.
Beyond Liverpool, Nike currently supplies Chelsea, Tottenham, and Brighton, while Adidas outfits United, Arsenal, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest, with Aston Villa and Newcastle set to join their roster this summer.
